GREETINGS from Betsy Thomason

Meet Samantha — Sam — Brouillard. Our paths crossed in the office of chiropractor Randy Schaetzke in Quechee VT, where Sam is the administrator. While we were chatting, she mentioned that she is training in the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. “Not your typical sport,” she said.

But then Sam is not your typical mid-twenties woman. She chose not to go to college. Instead, she’s says, “I’m in pursuit of being my best self — spiritually, physically, and mentally. My current life goals are to help those around me get through life’s madness, work on the family farm, and save money to build my own house.” And she adds, “be a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,” which she says is more than a sport; it’s a lifestyle. “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not just self-defense training. It teaches patience, strength, critical thinking, and humility”

Sam continues: “It’s important to be able to time and control your breathing because this deeply effects the body. In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu we want to be able to think and move our body with ease. We have a saying: slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Breathing is the main technique we use to stay smooth and calm of mind and body. This is not easy because training can be physically and mentally trying”

When I heard Sam say this, I knew that she would appreciate Just Breathe Out—Using Your Breath to Create a New, Healthier You.

Now months later, here’s her report:

I’m always looking for ways to improve my game and find an edge, especially with people who are larger and stronger than me and more skilled. I started incorporating the BreatheOutDynamic system in my training in July 2019. I had my first competition on October 27, 2019. My intention was to do my best as a novice.

To be honest, I wanted to take home 1st place in my division. And that is exactly what I did!

I attribute this success to my trainers at 603 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in West Lebanon NH  and to my investment in the BreatheOutDynamic system. Thanks to my commitment to BODs training, I know I will be achieving my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu goals and going farther than I ever dreamed. Thanks be to BODs.

Here’s how Just Breathe Out and the BreatheOutDynamic system can help.

When you focus on your outbreath, as described in Just Breathe Out, you connect directly with the part of your nervous system that promotes relaxation. You begin to discover a new source of energy and inner peace — and thus confidence — right within your very own body. This learning experience can lead to a more positive perspective about your self worth. Your body becomes more responsive. You experience joy. Your new-found energy motivates you to continue with your daily outbreath practice because it is so empowering. Then, you begin to value who you really are.
